From pattern design to final product, Autumn 2023

From pattern design to final product, Autumn 2023

After determining my target group, making a mood board and color map, deciding which products to make and sketching different pattern ideas, I was finally ready to make the pattern report in Adobe Illustrator.
After this followed a process with a series of different steps to be able to handprint my pattern on the linen fabric that I ordered in the beginning of the project. When the printed fabrics were dry they were sewn up into products in the form of tea towels and cushion covers. Later I sold the products at the Allegro X-mas market in Jakobstad, Finland.
Printing by hand can be a very demanding and time-consuming process with many different steps to take into account. The road to the finished product can defenutely be bumpy, but for me the end result was definitely worth all the work. So much fun to be able to in reality see the products that I had planned and worked on for so long.
Johanna Högväg (Johanna Högväg Design) guided us in this course named “Textile workshop project 1”.
